Category: accessible Devices
Hi. I'm lookin for an accessible digital recorder simular to the Zoom H2. I've checked 6 websites Inablemart, Maxi Aids, Independant Living Aids, FS and Humanware. oh yeah, Best Buy too.
Only thing ive been able to find is elimpous. They the only company makein these things? It says Voice, so I think its not as high quolity as like a profetional device.
I tried to find the Plextalk, but can't find it. Dont they only make CD recorders?
Thanks for all h help,
John
I find the Olympis is actually very good quality. I have an Olympis DS40, and it's definitely gotten its use. I would recommend getting separate stereo microphones, but other than that, it's great. The DS isn't the only good olympis recorder, either.
Also, the Victor Stream can record. it's not in stereo, and you need the Humanware companion software to convert it to Wav format, but, well, just throwing some ideas out there for you.
Most small devices can record:
book sense, victor stream, plextalk pocket, icon, braille plus, etc.
Yeah, even the Pac Mate and BrailleNote empower can record, although only in Wav format.
And the pacmate sounds like someone's crinkling and uncrinkling aluminum foil over the microphone.
Perhaps turnin off the blinkin curcer would help on the PAC Mate?

That doesn't affect it at all.
Hi,
I have two different recorders myself.
I have the edirol R09HR which I use a good bit, because it's nice and portable, I also use it as kind of a ginny pig, because I take it in situations ware their is a risk of possible damage, or something, It's really beat up, so I just use it if I want good quality but I don't want to bring something really nice...
I also have the ZoomH4N which I love. I mainly use that one to record live events, music, I took it halling heavy equipment one day with my uncle... that's my baby as far as my recorders go... It also has two XLR and quarter inch inputs so if you wanted to get a signal out of a mixer or something you can. Does anybody have any idea about prfessional cameras with nice stereo mikes? It would be nice to do a little bit of video work, or get some one sighted to do a video with good quality as far as audio goes...
Hope this helped,
Chris Harrington
I am using the olympus ds 71. It is voice activated, and it features multiple recording settings including PCM recording which is very very high quality but the files are extremely large. so your sacrifising quality for file size but I guess its a fair trade off.
I'm considering buying either the Olympus DM-420 or the shiny new Olympus DM-620. I can't really afford anything more expensive than those two, so I'm curious if there is any real advantage to getting the 620 when I could perhaps save a little money and get the older 420 model. Anybody know if there's any significant difference in the two as regards recording quality and accessibility? I know the 620 has 4 gigs instead of two, can record in PCM wave format, and has three built-in mics. Would those be the major differences or are there more?
